Training Contracts With Napthens

Applications for 2025 are now open.

We are excited to hear from you about your ambition to become a qualified solicitor.

As part of your training contract, you will carry out six-months seats, usually between four different departments, based at our offices in Preston, Blackburn, Liverpool, or Southport.

The success of Napthens is built on our people and your training contract is the beginning of your journey with Napthens.

Our people are important to us, and during your training contract you will become a member of a tight knit community and, as part of our ‘Flourish’ programme to aid your personal and professional development, you will be supported by a mentor and other trainee solicitors in the firm.

Training contracts at Napthens are predominantly within our commercial departments and cover the following areas – corporate, employment, litigation, commercial property, private client and family.

As a supportive employer, we’ll work with you to help you experience the departments of choice to complement your career goals.

You will gain invaluable hands-on experience in each of your seats, to include exposure on a variety of cases, client contact, learning from diverse and experienced lawyers with bespoke specialisms and a great benefits package.

We review all applications after the submission deadline each year and shortlisted applicants will be invited for a formal interview and assessment.

Whilst as a firm we appreciate that training contracts can be reduced through the Law Society’s ‘Time to Count’ scheme, it is Napthens’ policy that unless there are exceptional circumstances, all trainees will undertake a two-year training contract.
