Napthens has helped a local independent brewery to reach the next stage of its development, thanks to the licensing team and SIBA’s licensing helpline.
Signature Brew, based in London, had been operating music and entertainment events based on a temporary event notice, but wanted to make the space permanent and therefore needed to bring in a full premises licence.
However, this was made complicated as the brewery doesn’t own the land, so referred the matter to Napthens head of licensing, Gill Sherratt, after making contact through SIBA’s licensing helpline.
Having secured two separate premises licences for the venue to operate, the brewery can now hold as many events as they need throughout the year, when previously it was restricted to around one a month through temporary event notices.
It means the brewery’s business operations can increase and add to financial security for the company.
Gill said: “In these challenging times, our services are vital to support local licensed premises to both operate and expand their business operations.
“Signature Brew has an amazing passion for what they do and make a significant contribution to the local community. With our support they can now deliver even more entertainment events, and it helps support the business itself.
“That is what the Napthens and SIBA helpline is for, to give those in need of legal and licensing assistance that vital support. We want to enable businesses to flourish and avoid getting tangled up in complicated legal matters that might prevent that.”
Signature Brew is a brewery and music venue founded in 2011. With three locations across London, they aim to create a community that appreciates beer and music and encourages passion and creativity.
When asked about the impact of the work Napthens did, Tom Dudley, head of hospitality and events at Signature Brew, said this “Working with SIBA and then Napthens on this licence amendment has been very smooth and the new licence will allow us to host bigger and better music events next summer, helping us achieve our mission to make beer that makes music better.”
Signature Brew has achieved a lot in the years since their opening. Now with their own merchandise on sale and many spectacular collaborations to their name, alt-J, Enter Shikari, Ed Gamble and The Darkness, to name a few, we are sure they will be a name to remember.
